There are times when we want to buy good quality lip products, but buying the best often turns out to be outside the range of our budget. That’s when it becomes easy to be lured into buying a product and not really knowing if its’s fake or “the real deal”. I was very tempted to buy lipstick from an unknown online store, but I’m always careful of the fake products they’re selling and I take a lot of care so as not be scammed. When I had the chance to obtain the original Nyx Soft Matte lipstick, I thought I would try to compare it with a fake one. So I literally went online and purposely bought the fake Nyx to see what are the differences. Making this comparison actually helped me a lot in becoming a more keen observer of the products I’m buying. I hope that sharing my experience might also help you guys in spotting fake lip products.
The fake is taller and has a longer description compared to the original with shorter description on the front of the bottle. Also, the top is not flat compared to the original Nyx.
The wand of the FAKE Nyx is shorter but some other fake ones have longer wands. The fake is coated entirely with the lip cream and looks really creamy. Orignal Nyx is more neat looking.
The tube of the FAKE one has transparent white plastic compared to the original with a matte look.
They both have the same bottom labeling, but the FAKE has a slimmer font than the Original.
The top labeling is almost the same, but look closer with the spacing and alignment.
The shade of the FAKE is darker and very creamy compared to the ORIGINAL which has a lighter shade and dries easily. The fake product is also a little bit hard to remove using my Banila Clean It Zero. So there might be ingredients in it that are dangerous and could irritate the skin.
As for the price, I bought the original Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream from BeautyMNL at P390. The fake one is sold for about P80-P150.
